Istanbul: Activists call on Turkmen leadership to answer in the court

Today, June 21, 2022, a lawsuit was filed in Istanbul with the main prosecutor's office of Turkey against top officials of Turkmenistan.

The lawsuit lists 8 names of former and current officials of Turkmenistan, number 9 refers to civilians who participated in criminal acts.

After filing the lawsuit, a group of Turkmen activists and their lawyers gave interviews to journalists in front of the Istanbul courthouse. Lawyers and applicants issued a Media Statement entitled: “Open the borders of Turkmenistan!” Jurisdiction for the court."

About a dozen activists held flags and posters with the inscription: “The state is for the people. The government must turn its face to the people,” “The right to freedom of movement,” “The right to freedom of speech and thought,” “The right to obtain a passport.”
