Relatives of activist Rozybay Jumamuradov continue to be persecuted in Turkmenistan. Now his relatives are being pressured not only by the special services.

If earlier the Ministry of National Security officers demanded that G. Baltayeva bring a 14-year-old student for interrogation, and she hurried to fulfill the demand without even warning the teenager's parents, now, on her own initiative, the director uses her position to put pressure on the underage relatives of the Turkmen dissident. Perhaps such activity of the school director is explained by the fact that her husband Berdymurat Baltayev previously headed the department of the transport prosecutor's office of Lebap province and was the chief prosecutor of the city of Magdanly. Having retired, he does not lose contact with law enforcement agencies.
As it became known on May 7, two employees of the Ministry of National Security and a police inspector for juvenile affairs named Durdiyev interrogated the 14-year-old nephew of oppositionist Jumamurat Jumamuradov for more than an hour without the presence of parents and a lawyer. Then, Jumamurat's mother was brought to the police station and, also intimidating, they interrogated her in front of her son. After that, they were photographed in full face and profile, and both were allowed to go home.
On April 26, employees of the Ministry of National Security interrogated Rozybai's brother. On March 21, unknown people called (from the number 865560823) several times to this family and threatened to kill them if the family did not stop communicating with Rozybay Jumamuradov.
Earlier, the «Turkmen Initiative for Human Rights» (TIHR), the «International Partnership for Human Rights» (IPHR), «Human Rights Watch» and «Amnesty International» called on the Turkmen authorities to immediately stop persecution of relatives of dissidents living abroad, as well as respect the principles of freedom of expression and fundamental human rights in Turkmenistan.
